Permanent Closure of Trails on Ridgeback Wines and Owloon Farm
Attention Paarl Trails, Wine Lands North, and Wine Lands Regional members: we wish to inform you of an important change to our trail network. As of Friday, 8 November 2024, the landowners of Ridgeback Wines and Owloon Farm have decided to permanently close the trails on their properties to daily public use.
While these trails will no longer be open for regular riding, they will still be accessible for select events and pre-approved outrides organised by Paarl Trails. We will continue to work closely with Ridgeback and Owloon to ensure that these special occasions offer unique and memorable experiences.
Trails Affected
The closure will impact the following trails, part of the Purple Route on Owloon and Ridgeback:
- Skydive
- Ridgeback
- Mountain Goat
- Pipeline
- Cathedral
- Boulder City
Please note: Trails and routes such as Rhebokskloof, Pinecone, access to Paarl Reserve, and all other trails in the Paarl Trails network remain unaffected and open for your enjoyment.
We kindly ask for your cooperation in respecting the landowners’ wishes and their private property. It is a privilege to have access to these stunning landscapes, and our ability to continue using marked trails relies on our collective effort to honour and respect these agreements. By sticking to designated routes and showing appreciation for the landowners’ generosity, we can help ensure the continued success of our trail initiative.
